Assignment 1 work - Final illustrations and Iine up + Samples

Mood Board
Final Line Up
Illustrations

Urban Tropics is inspired by the juxtaposition of my home in Tauranga and my home in Wellington which can be seen in my mood board above - the two being both very different.
Tauranga is very tropical, warm, calm and is surrounded by nature. Wellington is very man-made, it's basically a 'concrete jungle' and this has been represented in my collection through the use of very angular lines and strong structured garments. Tauranga has been represented through the use of the vibrant tropical colours and the organic flowing chiffon.
The use of the hat accessories also brings the collection back to the tropical vibe, while still holding the angular edge of Wellington.

Fabrics

The handle of this fabric is great because it's stiff and can hold it's form very well. It is great for the strong angular shoulders and as seen in the bodice.
Light chiffon - Note in my collection above this is represented by a blue see through fabric - in an ideal world it would be a light blue colour.
The handle is perfect because it falls in an organic soft matter, it is also very free flowing.

Below are the samples that I made to re-inforce the aesthetic and techniques of the collection.
